About
The goal of It’s the Thought that Counts is to apply rationality and innovative thinking to current events and contemporary issues. I post on things I find interesting to write about, and which I hope you’ll find interesting to read and worth discussing in the comments. In this blog, you’ll find critical examinations of particular ideas and concepts we encounter in our daily lives — whether in politics, advertising, pop culture, science, or any other aspect of the Zeitgeist in general. A little bit of thinking goes a long way!
Your humble narrator goes by “Z” in these parts.
is a graduate student in physics. She follows developments in all branches of science as well as general scientific literacy issues. She’s also interested in a wide variety of other topics, from culture and society to law and policy. She enjoys webcomics and folk music, and would like to have a pet hedgehog someday.
There are older posts from back in the day when this blog was a joint venture. My former coauthor A is a graduate student in computer science, having previously studied math, economics, and political science. He is a bit of a political junkie, and has no shortage of other interests, including education, law, and philosophy. (Maybe he’ll come back eventually. We’ll see.)
What’s up with those little pictures next to the comments? Those are Gravatars, avatars associated with your email address. (When you comment on different blogs using the same email address, the same Gravatar will show up.) If you want your own, go to gravatar.com to upload one. If you don’t have a Gravatar, an Identicon is generated from a hash of your email address.
